Haileybury Youth Trust (HYT) is an award-winning charity dedicated to training Ugandan young people in climate-friendly construction, while building essential schools, homes, and water tanks.
Founded in 1890 in the East End of London, where the former British Prime Minister and Old Haileyburian, Clement Attlee, once served as manager, HYT has operated exclusively in Uganda since 2006, addressing urgent humanitarian and development needs in one of Africa’s poorest countries.
With Uganda’s rapidly growing population, there is an immediate need for skills training, employment opportunities, and infrastructure development. HYT equips young Ugandans with expertise in innovative, low-carbon building technologies, providing practical skills that improve education, livelihoods, and future opportunities.
